"Double Cross Weekend"
Wheeler Farm,
Murray
October 31, 2009 and November 1, 2009

Everyone has plans for Halloween night!  But, when Halloween falls on a weekend, what is there to do on a Halloween morning or afternoon?  Many UMB Cross Riders decided why not give the Double Cross Weekend at Wheeler Farm a try..

Men A: Saturday, UMB Cross Team had no Men A riders!
Women A: Saturday, UMB Cross Team had no Women A riders!
Masters Men 35+ A:  Saturday, UMB Cross Team had no Men 35+ A riders!
Masters 45+:  Saturday

Men B: Saturday

Soups up!  The soup served on this beautiful fall day was cheese and broccoli.  Get it while its' hot.

Many spectators showed up in costume to cheer on their
racers.  Wheeler Farm is a very spectator friendly course.

Women B:  Saturday UMB Cross Team had no Women B riders!
Masters Men 35+ B:  Saturday UMB Cross Team had no Masters Men 35+ B riders!
Men C: Saturday

 Light on his feet, Jeff Kingsford makes the hill barriers look
easy as he cruises to the  15th spot.

At the top of the barriers, Mike Horne gets ready to
remount his bike as he heads to the 32nd spot.

Leaning into the corner, Dan Hutchings pushes up
the road as he races to the 47th spot.
With his name all over the barriers, Scott Hunsaker clears
the obstacle  on his way to the 17th spot.

Absent since the first race of the season, Steve Brumbaugh  
returns in good form as he moves into the 29th spot.
New to our cyclocross squad, Bart Schenck rides
hard as he moves into the 58th spot.

Left:  Also new to our cyclocross squad, Chad Waldren
powers up the hill to take the 63rd spot in this huge category.

 

Women C: Saturday

Left: Yes, we're still at Wheeler Farm. One racer dressed up as a triathlete for the costume contest and did a swim in the pond during one of his laps.  Then like all good triathletes, he quickly made it through his T1 before he was back on the bike.

In his first cross race, Denmark Jensen
powers up the incline to take 19th.

Junior Men 10 - 14: Saturday

Zackary Peterson flies past the rider wearing the cape to
take 6th. Welcome to the team Zackary!

Also in his first UMB Cross Race, Harrison Woodard get
the inside track as he moves to the 19th place.

Junior Men 9 & Under: Saturday 


In his first UMB Cross Race, Joshua Peterson snakes
around the road to take 1st place.   Way to go!

In this Double Cross Weekend, the UMB Cross Team had 17 different riders compete in 25 races.  It was by far, our best showing to date.
